If you're interested in pursuing a career in robotics, or simply making new friends who share your passion for tinkering, there are a number of ways to get involved with robotics programs at Girl Scouts!
STEM Spark: Robotics is a free self-paced progressive badge program for Daisies-Ambassadors. Our own Girl Scouts of Greater New York STEM team has created a series of badge guides and video content, available to use for both virtual and in-person meetings, to help you earn all 3 of your level-specific robotics badges throughout the course of the program. Girl Scouts may complete the activities as a troop or individually.
FIRST LEGO League is an educational robotics program that invites youth members to challenge themselves in an exciting competition that helps build confidence and teamwork skills.
Troop leaders and Girl Scout volunteers are invited to form a team and sign up through Girl Scouts of Greater New York to receive a discount on participation fees, ongoing support from our staff, and access to special events such as robotics-themed field trips.
Open to Daisies-Cadettes, this multi-month program begins with a kick-off event each fall and culminates with a competition or expo (depending on grade level) in the winter or spring. Daisies and Brownies learn about Lego robotics in the FIRST Lego Leauge Explore program and present in expos. Juniors and Cadetttes complete the FIRST Lego Leauge Challenge program qualifies to try and get to city or national finals!
Over the years, our teams have earned many achievements, including awards, press coverage, and even advancing to the national championships! Most importantly, the discoveries you make along the way will be carried with you long after the competitions end.
