Ready to help your community and earn one of the highest awards in Girl Scouting? Cadettes can team up with a small group of fellow Girl Scouts or work on their own. To earn the Silver Award, you will research an issue you care about, make a plan to address it, and then take action to improve your community.

You can become a Silver Award Girl Scout if you:
- Are in sixth, seventh, or eighth grade
- Are a registered Girl Scout Cadette
- Have completed the Bronze Award or a Cadette Leadership Award

How Do We Get Started?
We highly recommend Leaders and Girl Scouts to view our Silver Award Training (available on gsLearn) before the Girl Scout(s) begin their project. Cadettes younger than 13 can view the tutorial on their adult's account. Review A Guide to Accessing gsLearn for more information.

How to earn the Girl Scout Silver Award
Find an issue you care about.
Build your Silver Award team (up to 4 Cadettes) or decide to go solo. If you choose to work with other Cadettes, you must review the Silver Award Team Pro Tips.
Explore your community and think of how that issue affects your community.
- Choose a Silver Award project that can create lasting change.
- Develop your Take Action project.
- Make a plan, ensure it is sustainable, and put it into motion.
- Dedicate a minimum of 50 hours working on your project.
- Reflect, share your story, and celebrate your success!
Complete the GSGNY Silver Award Submission Form!
To participate in the 2027 Silver Award Celebration, submit your final report no later than July 31, 2027.
