Girl Scouts of Greater New York Releases 2021 Mayoral Candidate questionnaire exclusively comprised of Girl Scout-generated questions for candidates. Five candidates respond, including Scott Stringer and Maya Wiley.
New York, NY — Today, Girl Scouts of Greater New York released the results of the organization’s 100% Girl Scout-generated candidate questionnaire for those running to be the next Mayor of New York City. The questionnaire asked candidates to go on the record about the issues girls are passionate about, including police reform, violence against the Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI) community, environmental justice, and more.
Five of the thirteen candidates submitted responses to the questionnaire. Respondents include: Dianne Morales, Scott Stringer, Maya D. Wiley, Paperboy Prince, and Art Chang. Proposals and topics discussed range from police funding to sustainable parks.
Girl Scouts of Greater New York supports girls who wish to become civically engaged at the local level. Even though most active Girl Scouts aren’t old enough to vote, that has never stopped them from taking action and helping others cast their ballots. In recent years, Girl Scouts have hosted voter registration drives, Get Out the Vote (GOTV) events, and fielded candidate questionnaires. Girl Scouts of Greater New York is proud to have compiled this resource to give mayoral candidates a sense of what the next generation of leaders are focused on, and give voters the chance to hear from the candidates on these important issues.
