Transit Wireless CEO will be celebrated for her work in expanding digital connectivity across the NYC Subway System
(New York, N.Y.) — Girl Scouts of Greater New York will honor Melinda White, CEO of Transit Wireless, for her exemplary leadership and advocacy at its annual Gold Achievement Gala at the Ziegfeld Ballroom on Tuesday, May 9, 2023. The event supports Girl Scouts’ signature leadership development programming across the five boroughs. Each year, Girl Scouts of Greater New York presents leaders who exemplify outstanding achievement and integrity in their fields with Gold Achievement Awards inspired by the Girl Scout Gold Award, the highest achievement in Girl Scouting.
White has served as the CEO of Transit Wireless since 2018. In this role, she is responsible for creating and implementing a strategic vision that she shares with state and local government officials, resulting in the design, build, and operation of 5G communication networks across the transportation industry. Because of these critical efforts, the firm is now positioned to grow exponentially with the recently announced MTA Communications Expansion Project, the largest of its kind in North America.
A natural innovator, White’s leadership and vision have been the reason for transformative developments in digital connectivity and communications.
“I am delighted and proud to be honored by Girl Scouts of Greater New York,” says Melinda White. “Courage, Confidence, and Character are tenets of leadership we all can – and must – embrace. Girl Scouts trains our future female leaders across all industries.”
“Providing connectivity to New York City Transit subway riders is a game-changer for New Yorkers,” she continues. “Accepting this recognition on behalf of BAI Communications, parent company of Transit Wireless, represents our hard work with the MTA to prioritize productivity, communication, and safety for riders. And bringing high-speed connectivity to riders who may live in underserved areas further addresses the inequities of digital service delivery.”
Before serving with Transit Wireless, White had an extensive career in communications and leadership, including 12 years with Frontier Communications, where she held various positions that helped bolster the company’s revenue growth and optimize strategic business initiatives.
“We are proud to honor Girl Scout alumna Melinda White at this year’s Gold Achievement Gala,” says Meridith Maskara, CEO of Girl Scouts of Greater New York. “It is because of her efforts that the transportation industry has evolved with the ever-changing digital landscape. Melinda oversees innovations today’s Girl Scouts care about and benefit from, and by welcoming her into our community with this award, they’ll get the invaluable chance to learn from her directly.”
In addition to honoring White, the Girl Scouts of Greater New York is also honoring former CEO of BBH USA Amani Duncan, Principal of Glasheen & Co. Maeve DuVally, Former First Deputy Mayor of the City of New York Lorraine Grillo, and Chief Human Resources Officer of TPG Global Anilu Vazquez-Ubarri.
