Change the world, Girl Scout

Gold Award Girl Scouts are rock stars, role models, and real-life heroes. How do they do it? By using everything they?ve learned as a Girl Scout to solve a problem in their community or make a lasting change in their world.

Seniors and Ambassadors who want to go for the Gold Award build a team of trusted adults, peers, and leaders in their community to guide them through challenges and support their success.

Plus? Nothing beats that feeling of seeing real, lasting, and sustainable change and knowing it was you who made it happen. It changes the way you see your place in the world?and how the world sees you.

Looking for inspiration for your project? Check out our 2026 Gold Award Ceremony Booklet!

You can become a Gold Award Girl Scout if you:

  • Are in ninth, tenth, eleventh, or twelfth grade
  • Are a registered Girl Scout Senior or Ambassador
  • Have completed the Silver Award or a Senior/Ambassador Leadership Award

How to earn the Girl Scout Gold Award

1. Create a proposal for your Take Action project toggle arrow

Find an issue in your community or the world that you care about and create plan to address it. Your Take Action project should be a minimum of 80 hours and leave a lasting impact.

Need ideas? Click here to get inspired by past Gold Award projects!

2. Submit your proposal toggle arrow

Log in to our GoGold platform to submit your proposal. Proposals are reviewed by our Highest Award & Scholarship Committee.

If an addendum is needed, you will receive an email from the committee outlining the necessary change(s).

If no addendums are needed, Girl Scouts will receive a letter of approval and may start to implement their project.

3. Carry out your plan toggle arrow

It's time to Take Action! With the help of the experts and community members you've identified to help you, lead your team and implement your project.

4. Submit your Final Report toggle arrow

Submit your Final Report through the GoGold platform!

Through this leadership experience, Girl Scouts will gain new skills and knowledge about their cause and discover what they stand for. Your Final Report should reflect what you've learned and how you've grown along the way.

Projects are reviewed by our volunteer committee, after which Girl Scouts receive an approval or feedback letter.
