Girl Scouts of all levels, and volunteers, are invited to get involved in our summer Affinity Troops. Affinity Troops are specialized, age-specific cohorts that meet for 5-7 weeks and allow Girl Scouts from across NYC to connect and explore a shared topic of interest. Trained volunteers facilitate weekly, virtual troop meetings and occasional in-person events that help Girl Scouts take a deep dive into the designated theme.
This summer, that theme is The Outdoors! Girl Scouts will discover
nature in our urban environment, enhance their skills of observation,
and develop a Take Action project – a data-driven solution to a
problem in their community. Plus, all participants will earn their
“Think Like a Citizen Scientist” Journey Award and have the chance to
take part in the Girl Scout Tree Promise patch program – a rare and
exciting opportunity for New York City Girl Scouts!
When Girl Scouts spend quality time outdoors, they thrive physically, emotionally, and intellectually. Outdoor Affinity Troops provide opportunities that build skills, introduce adventure, and encourage environmental stewardship across NYC!

Short-term volunteers have a BIG impact on NYC Girl Scouts and their families! When you sign up to lead an Outdoor Affinity Troop, you’ll be providing Girl Scouts with a convenient, virtual experience, supplemented with outdoor opportunities that build skills, introduce adventure, and encourage environmental advocacy across NYC.

In the summertime, GSGNY offers our popular sleepaway program up at Camp Kaufmann in beautiful Holmes, New York! Sleepaway Camp is all about making lifelong memories with new friends. Campers in grades 2 – 12 have the opportunity to participate in themed programs that range from 3 days to 2 weeks.
We are looking for enthusiastic staff members to help lead this summer programming. Positions range from lifeguards to kitchen help. Individuals are needed for the 5-week summer program, but there is an option to work one-week sessions.
