Urban Explorer Break Camps

School is out, so join us for an Urban Explorer Break Camp!

For girls in grades K-8 (multi-level programming varies by break camp).

Girl Scouts become city explorers and go on several adventures to learn about their environment.

About Urban Explorer Break Camp

Urban Explorer Break Camp provides opportunities for elementary and middle school-aged girls to explore the natural world, enjoy the health benefits of the outdoors, and learn about ways to support environmental efforts in their communities—all while having the time of their lives!

This program reinforces science concepts and continues the learning process in exciting and engaging ways while school is out. Every day girls will participate in hands-on S.T.E.A.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math) projects, and go on unique excursions to parks, museums, and environmentally-related outdoor spaces throughout the five boroughs.

As campers, girls develop strong leadership skills: practicing teamwork, taking risks, and trying new things!  As adults, we know these skills and experiences are essential to girls becoming confident and independent.

Spring Break Camp

Join us at Council as we celebrate Spring with two separate week-long It’s Your Planet Journey! Campers will go on several adventures to learn about the environment, including The Butterfly Conservatory at AMNH and a hands-on workshop with a Park Ranger. Girls will learn about energy and science at a custom program at the Museum of Math, and take a DJ class to sharpen their stem skills and creativity.

The week will culminate in a trip to Camp Kaufmann upstate, where girls will participate in outdoor classrooms, archery, and awesome crafts! This week is sure to jump start the fun and warm weather ahead.
