Last night we celebrated the accomplishments of 97 NYC Girl Scouts who earned their Gold Award – the highest honor in Girl Scouting. They each spearheaded and carried out Take Action service projects, and collectively performed over 7,700 hours of community service!!! Congratulations, ladies! Thanks for making the world a better place!

OUR GOLD AWARDEES 2014/2015 Here are six more Girl Scouts who made the world a better place with their community service projects, and who will receive their Gold awards on May 4th: *Ariana from troop 2696 in Brooklyn collected teddy bears for Christmas gifts for children in shelters * April from troop 5169 in Staten Island connected Boy Scouts to an English class in Germany, and Girl Scouts to Girl Guides in Canada. The participants became pen-pals and handwrote letters to each other *Vicki from troop 4772 in Queens worked with residents of a senior citizen home *Arianna from troop 2873 in Brooklyn organized a drive to create stockings with goodies, necessities, cards, and ornaments for troops overseas *Victoria from troop 2320 in Brooklyn raised awareness of hunger in her community with a food drive and a soup kitchen beautification project *Olivia from troop 3148 in Queens promoted awareness of the effects of fluoride and fluoridated water on health and on local and global environments

OUR GOLD AWARDEES 2014/2015 We’re proud to present six more fabulous Gold Awardees whose projects have made the world a better place: *Cecelia from troop 5364 in Staten Island taught swimming safety techniques for the pool and ocean. *Paraskevi (Evi) from troop 2873 in Brooklyn designed a seminar to raise awareness to her community about violence against women, how to stand up against it, and how to use their voices. *Katarina from troop 4107 in Queens helped clean the bike paths of Forest Park and cared for the flora around the playground area of Dry Harbor Park. *Catherine from troop 5139 in Staten Island collected socks for the needy and stuffed animals for children during the holiday season. *Jewel from troop 2530 in Brooklyn held a bullying workshops & wrote and performed a musical about bullying. *Teresa from troop 4570 in Queens promoted animal adoption and educated about animal shelters.
