One of our 8,000 great volunteers, Stacey Pilson, was featured in this article about giving back to the community. "In the past eleven years, [Stacey's] role with the Girl Scouts has evolved from ‘episodic’ volunteer to a troop leader and trainer. She leads weekly meetings during which the girls work on projects for their badges. Along with the co-leaders in the troop, she plans outings and activities for the girls." Girl Scout Troop 3463 completed their third annual "Milk & Bookies" book-raiser to help support literacy. Book donations went to The Broadway Housing Communities of Harlem. Caldecott winner Jerry Pinkney was their guest author and they had a surprise visit from Mo Willems! The day was a huge success and ended with a pizza party for the girls and the children from Broadway Housing Communities. In addition to hanging posters, the troop created a fantastic PSA (view it at http://youtu.be/QG94IEFOCN0) and distributed a nicely designed flyer all over the city.
