Today is National S’Mores Day! Did you know that the first-known recorded version of a “S’Mores” recipe can be found in an official Girl Scouts publication from 1927? S’Mores are a perfect campfire treat – and the perfect place to enjoy S’Mores is at our very own Camp Kaufmann. The Girl Scouts of Greater New York is the ONLY all-urban council in the United States, and for many of our girls, visiting Camp Kaufmann is their first time away from the city, and their first opportunity to explore nature. Every year, over 3,000 girls and adults come to our 425-acre wooded oasis in Dutchess County for our outdoor recreational and environmental leadership programs. As those who visited this past summer know, big things are happening at camp! By next summer, our brand-new swimming pool and aquatics center will be ready, and we’re also planning more updates to camp to ensure that thousands more girls over the next century can taste their first s’more at Camp Kaufmann!

The U.S. Treasury is redesigning the $10 bill, which will include a woman who is a "champion for our inclusive democracy." Might we suggest that it feature Girl Scouts founder Juliette Gordon Low? If you agree, please share this post! #TheNew10
