Our #TBT Picture of the Day is of a very, very young Patrick Dwyer, admiring his sisters Molly, Bridget (in uniform), and Katie. Baby Patrick grew up to become Communications Manager and Graphic Designer right here at GSGNY - and no wonder: “Girl Scouting was definitely in my blood. My grandmother in Kentucky was a troop leader, my mom was the local cookie lady in Illinois, all three of my sisters were Girl Scouts, and all four of my nieces are Girl Scouts.” This photo originally appeared in a Girl Scout publication in the ‘70s. Thanks for keeping it, and thanks for sending it in, Patrick! If you have a photo you'd like to share with us for #ThrowbackThursday, please email it to firstname.lastname@example.org, with a short description of the who, what, when, and where. Thank you!

Our 22nd Annual Women of Distinction breakfast at 42nd Street Cipriani yesterday was a smashing success! Inspiring speeched by our five honorees energized and moved the crowd; our Future Woman of Distinction, April Mintz, impressed with a story of how Girl Scouting helped her overcome personal setbacks and encouraged her to excel.

What a fun way to get the Science of Style badge! On Oct 21, troops 3064 and 3054 visited Lush - a perfect example of how girls have expanded their definition of what a career in fashion can be. Todays girls are more interested in the science behind fabrics, cosmetics, and skincare products and in the running and promoting of such businesses than in becoming models or fashion designers...

These photos, sent in by Senior Girl Scout Grace from troop 3054, show just what an amazing networking opportunity the Girl Scout Convention in Salt Lake City was. Grace met Connie Lindsay; Dr. Tererai Trent, one of the keynote speakers for GSLI; Elizabeth Smart; and Candace Kislack; and she got to hang out with many other Girl Scouts – girls who are on their way to be tomorrow’s leaders.
