Muriel Siebert, Trailblazer for Women's Rights in the Workplace, Dies at 80
By Barbara Murphy-Warrington, CEO, Girl Scouts of Greater New York
This weekend we lost a true trailblazer, the remarkable Muriel Siebert. When Ms. Siebert wanted something, she didn't take "no" for an answer. As a result, she broke barriers and paved the way for women to hold finance jobs on Wall Street. A principled leader, Ms. Siebert wasn't happy with incremental results. Throughout her life she continued to fight for women's rights in the workplace.
Muriel Siebert was the embodiment of the courage, confidence, and character we instill in Girl Scouts, and she was recognized by our Council as a great leader at our 2006 Tribute Dinner. Some of our Girl Scouts had the privilege of meeting her at a BNY Mellon event earlier this year, and they were truly inspired by her story that each individual can be the change they want to see in the world. I encourage you to read this piece about her.
We are deeply grateful for having had the opportunity to know Ms. Siebert.
