The Girl Scouts of Greater New York is New York City’s largest
girls-only youth and leadership development organization

Nearly 25,000 girls representing almost every ZIP code participate in our programs - learning to lead with courage, confidence, and character to make their communities and the world a better place. And nearly 9,000 volunteers help them along their journey.

We offer a wide range of Girl Scout activities in public and private schools, public housing, shelters, detention centers, and in long-term medical care at St. Mary’s Children’s Hospital of Bayside. And through our programs, we offer many pathways to help girls grow into leaders.

Girls and volunteers can choose their level of involvement – from a one-time opportunity to an ongoing participation in a troop.

We’re successful because our greatest strength is listening to girls and responding to their needs, such as offering activities focused on developing a strong sense of self; through our STEM Scholars and our Career Exploration Programs; and through our programs in Community Service, Camping, Cookies, and Volunteerism.

2012 marks Girl Scouts’ 100th anniversary and we have declared it the Year of the Girl. We have developed the ToGetHerThere.org campaign to encourage all adults, corporations, and government officials to help girls fulfill their leadership potential - because when girls succeed, so does society.

So, if you have a 5- to 17-year-old girl, now is the time for her to join our premier leadership organization. Join.
